BrambleBrook Working Dogs
Who we are?
Bramblebrook Working Dogs is based in the Adelaide Hills township of Kersbrook the gateway to the Barossa and the native and forest reserves of Crawford Forest.
The kennel is run by Alex Withers and Carla Prinsloo who have a primary background in the training and handling of Search and Rescue Dogs in the fields of Disaster and Land Search, as well as Medical Detection work.
Search and Rescue work requires a dog possessing well developed hunting drives, independence, endurance, courage, and tenacity. In looking for his next disaster search dog Alex was drawn to the extraordinary working traits of English Springer Spaniels after several unsuccessful attempts with other traditional working dog breeds.
Moving forwards both Alex and Carla have been lucky enough to establish relationships with several wonderful and supportive working gundog kennels within Australia and have been successfully working Springer Spaniels and Labrador Retrievers. It was in being exposed to the traits of well-bred working gundogs, their ease of training, and their performance as well as experiencing the difficulty in sourcing appropriate working dogs in a small but highly competitive industry that we decided to establish a small working kennel and Bramblebrook Working Dogs was formed.
It is our belief that if solid working traits are captured and developed a well-bred working dog should be able to adapted successfully into a wide variety of working disciplines.
Bramblebrook’s primary mission is breeding to replenish our own working stocks by capturing and developing the working traits of our dogs so that our dogs can been successfully deployed into a wide range of disciplines. A secondary mission is to be able to make working dogs available to those that would otherwise not have access to them.
